START YOUR LANGUAGE JOURNEY AS A PEN PAL!
Mission:
Due to the current war between Russia and Ukraine, many Ukrainian individuals are isolated in their homes, looking to flee the country some point soon, or have goals of moving to an English speaking country to work. This pr0gram allows Ukrainians of all ages to connect with English speakers from different parts of the world, and also practice their English handwriting skills. Low commitment, large impact!
How does it work?
After filling out a quick interests & preferences form, we will send you an email with your match. The waiting time usually varies depending on who is available at the moment. Once you receive your pen pal match through an email, you will be able to connect with them. You and your pen pal will then decide if you would like to send your handwritten letters as a picture through emails, or physically, through your local post office.
Why not just connect virtually?
Writing by hand allows the language learner to memorize more words and sentence structures, which can help them in daily conversations. Visualizing what the learner is trying to convey is important in developing fluidity in their articulation, and thoughtfulness in their word choice.
How often would we send letters?
The flexibility of this program gives both the volunteer and the learner the ability to choose the frequency they exchange letters. The preference, however, is that you send at least 1-2 letters a month. You will decide how often you would like to send letters to each other when you introduce yourselves in that initial emailing stage.
